EVS in Strasbourg (France)

One year of European Volunteering at the Service to Others

Project description

The Bruckhof is an institute of education specialized for hearing impaired children. It was founded in 1885, and counts today 6 departments devoted to the children with hearing problems and their parents.
The institution provides to its pupils a specialized education adapted to their age, school level and special needs.
The EVS-project will take place in the kindergarten l’Envol, receiving children from 2 to 6 years old.
On a daily basis, the volunteer’s schedule will be divided into two big themes: education and organisation of leisure and pedagogical activities.
The educational part will take place during lunch time. It contains for example the learning and the appropriation of hygiene, taste and social customs.
The leisure and pedagogical part will take place on afternoons. This activity has more to do with the development of the artistic and locomotion skills of the child.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be hosted in a flat with bathroom situated on site and with an independent entrance. During the week, he will take his meals at L’Envol with the staff and the children. During the weekends, he will have either the possibility to pick up meals in the Institute’s kitchen, or to buy his own food and to use the well equipped office’s kitchen. In that case, the hosting organization will reimburse him his food costs.

Training during the project

Several seminars organized by VISA ad and by the French National Agency throughout the year.
